Centro Incontri Umani - Ascona

The Centre - Description

The house is a rambling, picturesque building dating from the beginning 20th century which has been renovated. The building is set in a beautiful garden overlooking Lake Maggiore, on the border between Switzerland and Italy.

Ascona is often called the "Pearl of Lake Maggiore" for its cultural heritage as well as for its touristic offerings.

It is situated near the delta of the Maggia river, on the shores of a splendid and sunny bay. The position is unique, together with a wide variety of landscapes. Its climate is the mildest in Switzerland, with around 2300 hours of sunshine per year.

Winter is cold but sunny (night under 0° C; day normally 5°C) and summer is warm (night 15-20°C, day 25-30°C). Thanks to the favourable climate, spring comes early.

Lovers of nature are drawn by the spectacular shows of camelias, mimosas and magnolias, which often start to flower in February when the mountain tops are still covered in snow.
The clear autumn days attract those who are looking for a quiet stay with excursions.
